The Volkswagen Tristar concept that world premiered at the IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hanover last month has been presented at the VW Group Night in Paris today.
Designed to mark the 30th anniversary of the first Syncro concept, the Tristar is an extended cab pickup based on the Transporter.

Designed as an off-road vehicle, the concept is equipped with an aggressive exterior that is accentuated with plastic body cladding, a 30mm increased ride height and 17-inch alloy wheels shod with off-road tires. The concept is also endowed with a sportier front fascia featuring a revised grille, LED headlamps and a winch.
The cabin is appointed with premium leather seats, a 20-inch tablet with video conferencing facility, metallic accents and an espresso machine. The concept leaves its driver with a 20-inch tablet and “state-of-the-art video conferencing and sound systems.”
The concept is powered by a 2.0-liter TDI engine that produces 201 bhp and 450 Nm of torque, paired to a seven-speed DSG transmission and a 4MOTION all-wheel drive system. The car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 10 seconds and achieve a top speed of 185 km/h
 

Im Kino und im Fernsehen verzeichnete Ford Mustang bislang bereits über 3.200 Auftritte. Demnächst kommt ein weiterer Auftritt hinzu: Am 14. März 2014 debütiert in den USA die neue Generation des Ford Mustang im Hollywood-Spielfilm “Need for Speed”.

Als der erste Ford Mustang im April 1964 in den USA auf den Markt kam, war er in der Filmwelt eine unbekannte Größe. Aber die Produzenten des James Bond-Blockbusters “Goldfinger” nutzten 1965 bereits ein weißes Exemplar des Ford Mustang-Cabrio für ihren Kassenschlager. Fünf Jahrzehnte später gilt der Ford Mustang als automobile Ikone der Pop-Kultur. Aus diesem Grund wählte der Regisseur Scott Waugh die neue Generation des Ford Mustang für “Need for Speed”: “Ich entschied mich für den Ford Mustang, weil er die amerikanische Kultur repräsentiert”, sagte Waugh. “Der Ford Mustang zeigt Muskeln und wurde durch einige der spektakulärsten Auto-Verfolgungsjagden der Filmgeschichte zu einer echten Ikone”.

Jetzt kommt der nächste Hollywood Streifen dazu. Es handelt sich dabei um die Adaption der gleichnamigen, sehr erfolgreichen Videospielreihe von Electronic Arts. Die Hollywood-Kino-Produktion versteht sich außerdem als Hommage an die großen Auto-Actionfilme der 1970er. In der Hauptrolle des “Need for Speed”-Movies ist der 1979 geborene US-Schauspieler Aaron Paul zu sehen. Er spielt den frisch aus dem Gefängnis entlassenen Tobey Marshall, der an Straßenrennen teilnimmt und sich an seinem ehemaligen Partner rächen will.

Mehr als neun Millionen Ford Mustang hat der Konzern seit der Vorstellung des Urahnen im Jahr 1964 von der Koppel gelassen – und damit eine beispielhafte Erfolgsgeschichte geschrieben. Die nächste Generation, die ab Anfang 2015 auch in Deutschland offiziell über die Ford-Händler vertrieben werden wird, wird als Fastback-Coupé und als Convertible-Cabrio in zwei Motorisierungen zur Verfügung stehen: mit dem 5,0-Liter-V8 – in der Spitze mehr als 313 kW (426 PS) stark und mit einem Drehmoment von über 529 Newtonmeter (Nm) – und mit einem neu entwickelten 2,3-Liter-EcoBoost-Vierzylinder-Motor mit Benzindirekteinspritzung und Turboaufladung. Voraussichtliche Leistung: 227 kW (309 PS), Drehmoment von mehr als 400 Nm. Zusätzlich werden zahlreiche fortschrittliche Konnektivitäts- und Fahrer-Assistenzsysteme im neuen Ford Mustang verfügbar sein.

VOLKSWAGEN, is to sell just 225 examples of its latest special edition model, the Caravelle Edition 25. Offered with a 2.0-litre Bi-Turbo diesel engine, the Edition 25 is available with either front-wheel drive or 4MOTION all-wheel drive. Prices start at £44,995 and order books are open now.

The seven-seater Edition 25 model is based on the SE equipment grade, with the addition of a few extras including voice activated sat nav, Bluetooth, parking sensors, reversing camera, and blind spot monitoring system.

All of the seats are trimmed in two-tone leather, and can be moved around to face one another and create a ‘lounge’ environment. Entry and exit is easy thanks to electric sliding doors. 

The exterior is set apart from other Caravelle models by the inclusion of black styling accents in the roof, side sills and tailgate, as well as 18 inch satin black alloy wheels. Two colours are offered – Candy White or Reflex Silver.

Fuel economy is 34.9mpg for the two-wheel drive model and 32.1mpg on the 4MOTION, with emissions of 214g/km or 232g/km respectively.

According to the Germans at Auto News, the new model is going to replace the T5 in 2015. The new T6 van will be heavily influenced by the styling of the cars Volkswagen makes, as proven by the e-Co-Motion concept that was shown a year ago, which looks a bit like the Golf VII.

Engine options will likely include a 2.0-liter 224 PS engine and a 231 PS 2.0-liter diesel engine (??). DSG will obviously be an option, as will 4Motion all-wheel drive. Engineers will focus most of their efforts on increasing practicality and lowering emissions and fuel consumption. The T6 could thus be much lighter than the T5 thoghu use of aluminum.
